Isaiah 43:18‭-‬19

“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past.  See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland. NIV

It is funny to me, how this scripture always pops up at the beginning in some form of prophecy or relevant message for the new year. However, I think the question shouldn't be whether it's new or not but rather what He is doing now and do we hear and understand what He is doing.

In the midst of our current situation I would like to present an alternative to the world crises that is happening. Is this new? Probably not to God. But is it something we have not seen, new to us? Yes!  So God is doing a new thing.

God is plowing the earth. Not since WW2 has the whole earth been molded and reshaped. God is remodeling His earth. We are in the middle of a “historic world wide event”. He is plowing right now to sow and to plant. We, as His people, need to align ourselves with this. Do not think a pandemic caught God off guard. Everything the devil means for evil God always comes around and uses it to further His Kingdom. Now I am not saying God needs the devil’s evil so He can promote His plan. No His plan was already there it's the devil trying to thwart God’s plan.

Psalms 24:1

The earth is the Lord ’s, and all its fullness, The world and those who dwell therein. NKJV

The earth is the Lord ’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it; NIV

What I am saying is no matter what the devil throws out there it will never and cannot ever thwart God's plan. God is in complete and total control of the earth. He has control and will never lose control. His plan is always coming forward no matter what is going on around us. The devil’s scheme is to always get our eyes off of what God is doing.

The devil is always trying to take away from the knowledge of God. This knowledge of who He is and what He is doing because it is always to benefit His people. He is always ahead, many steps ahead, always in front of the schemes of the enemy.

2 Corinthians 10:3‭-‬5

For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. NIV

1 Corinthians 2:7‭-‬8

No, we declare God’s wisdom, a mystery that has been hidden and that God destined for our glory before time began. None of the rulers of this age understood it, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. NIV

God is bigger, more powerful, and greater than any pandemic. He always seizes every opportunity and uses these opportunities to move His plan forward.  What the devil has meant for harm God says, “Not on My watch!” As His people, we need to think and be the same. Now is the time to magnify the Lord, not the pandemic.  Instead of looking at what the pandemic is doing begin to seek the Lord to show you what He is doing.

Psalms 34:1‭-‬8

I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul shall make its boast in the Lord ; The humble shall hear of  it and be glad. Oh, magnify the Lord with me, And let us exalt His name together. I sought the Lord , and He heard me, And delivered me from all my fears. They looked to Him and were radiant, And their faces were not ashamed. This poor man cried out, and the Lord heard him, And saved him out of all his troubles. The angel of the Lord  encamps all around those who fear Him, And delivers them. Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good; Blessed is the man who trusts in Him! NKJV

If the devil is doing something on a world wide scale then you know God was already and still is doing something as well. That is why the devil is doing something huge,  to get your attention on what he is doing and off of what God is doing. So what is God doing? He is plowing, getting His earth ready for the next crop to come forth.

Plowing means the ground has been fallow or unplowed. To plow is to break up the soil that has been lying idle. In God's law (Ex. and Lev.) He required His people to leave the ground fallow for a season. Then after that season to go back to sowing and planting in that field. But first they had to weed, and then plow or till the ground because of its hardness from lying dormant or unused.

Now when a farmer plows his field he already knows what he is going to plant. So ask yourself this question if God is plowing the earth what seed is He planning to put into His field. This is where His people need to be. We need to say “not on my watch” to the devil. Let's take our eye off the pandemic and look up to what the Lord of the earth, owner of all is doing.

Hosea 10:12

Sow righteousness for yourselves, reap the fruit of unfailing love, and break up your unplowed ground; for it is time to seek the Lord , until he comes and showers his righteousness on you. NIV

Jeremiah 4:3‭

…….“Break up your unplowed ground and do not sow among thorns.  Circumcise yourselves to the Lord , circumcise your hearts,...NIV

Here are some suggestions, if you believe God is in control, to begin to set your mind and heart on.

  1. Align yourself first. Get your own heart right. Pull up the weeds. Weeds (Mk.4:18-19) represent worldly ways and things. Plow the ground which means soften your heart. Humble yourself. Repent where necessary. Turn your heart away from wrong areas and turn them back to the right area. This is sowing righteousness. This is circumcising your heart.

  2. Magnify the Lord. Start making Him larger in your eyes than anything happening around you. Start paying attention to what He is doing and not what the enemy is doing. Get others to magnify the Lord.

  3. Instead of looking at what your church is not able to do right now and what you are missing, ask the Lord to use “you”! Ask him to send “you” some way, somehow. Instead of wondering about the church, go out and be the church. There are so many things you can do for others. Many are fearful and worried because of the uncertainty of the future. Be a witness of hope and faith. Help them see who the Lord really is and what He can do. Help them direct their eyes and attention to Him. Find ways to bless and encourage others.
