Merry Christmas!!

(God With Us)

Christmas, the most wonderful time of the year! No, we aren’t going to break out in song. Instead, we want to send a simple reminder that all of us need to be aware of our witness. I am referring to our silent witness, which is just as powerful. At this  time of year we will very likely be around more family, friends and co-workers than we usually are throughout the year. So let's remember who we represent. We know God is always opening doors for those around us to see and understand His Son, after all this is what we really are celebrating. It's easy to get weighed down with all the gift buying and giving as well as all the food preparations and parties to attend, and relatives to visit. But in all these things it can be one of the best opportunities to share who Christmas is about. People are more giving, caring, thoughtful of others, a little more joyful, little more happy, full of life, and even a little more talkative. This is His day, it is about Jesus Christ and He is the greatest gift still to have ever be given. We are just witnesses for Him. We are to represent, to our best ability, what His life really is all about. For the majority of the time, this is done without a word being spoken. However, we just never know where a short word of comfort, encouragement, or simply  sharing your life by helping others enjoy life and this season may lead. As you go you represent Jesus, and here are a few things to help remind us all how we may represent Him.

John 17:20-22

20 "My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, 21 that all of them may be one, Father,

just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. NIV

John 20:21

Again Jesus said, "Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you."NIV

We represent “saved” salvation. We reveal to those around us what a true saved  person really looks and acts like. We are those who walk on this earth but are not of this world, we have been saved from it. Everywhere we go we show everyone around us what a saved person is really like. Being saved is the single greatest miracle that can happen to any unsaved individual, God coming into their life and saving them. This is why He was born, to bring salvation to mankind.

We represent Life, His life. A good working definition of this is Him breathing into our natural life His energy of life. He has animated us with His ability to live life to the fullest the way He lives life.  We are the ones who bring an upbeat attitude, we represent His joy and peace and can infuse this attitude into any situation and to any room we walk into. We bring His attitude of living life in abundance.

We represent Faith in Jesus Christ. People should be able to look at us and see what it means to believe in God with their whole heart. We reveal what true faith is to look like. Faith is those things hoped for. We, who through our faith, bring hope into any and every situation. Biblical hope is painting a picture of what Jesus Christ can and  will do. We are to encourage faith in others, giving them hope which can change any negative in life into a positive.

We represent Light. Our witness is to bring the light. Remember, we are to be the light and salt to all those around us. Light is the illumination, showing how to see and understand Jesus. Salt is the flavor and preservation to those around us. By doing this we reveal His way, and His path. We are to show people how a Christian is to walk in this life. Think of it this way, our light is like a magnificent bright light shining on the ground showing where a person should put their feet of understanding. Our light shows others where and how to walk in this life.

We represent His Love. His Love is a true selfless love, completely and totally unselfish. He was the greatest gift ever given and He represented the single greatest act of selflessness ever in history. There never has nor ever will be a greater demonstration of true unselfish love. His love acted on behalf of what others needed without regard for self. Jesus was born King but also born a lamb who would, through His death, take away the sins of all of mankind, one act of selflessness for us all. His love is based on what the Father asked of Him and what He knew needed to be done to bring all of mankind back into a right relationship with His Father.

These are just a few things we are to represent whether we are aware of it or not. This is inside every Christian and is represented, most of the time, through our silent witness.  If we say we are Christians or people know we are Christians, these truths are part of our witness. So enjoy the season, be His light and salt, let it be natural as you just enjoy His life in front of others.  What an amazing honor and privilege for our lives to represent the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. We get to be a witness for the Lord Jesus Christ. A child who was born to completely change all of history forever and ever. He is Christmas and keeping Him at the center of our celebrations will be a powerful witness to all around us.
